Almost all of the metal parts depict landscapes featuring African trees, the preferred habitat of many wild cats.
The Mauser M 03 "Tracks of Africa" follows in the footsteps of the legendary "Big Five" – the great dream of the ambitious big game hunter. The five largest and most dangerous species on the African continent are shown in artistic interpretations: lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. The title "Tracks of Africa" derives from their footprints or tracks.
Diana is the Goddess of Hunting in Roman mythology and is also considered the Patron Saint of Hunting. The name "Diana" is of Latin origin and means "shining" – the M 03 "Diana" with its elaborate silver inlays certainly lives up to its name.
