Following in the Footsteps of the Big Five
The Mauser M 03 "Tracks of Africa" follows in the footsteps of the legendary Big Five – the great dream of many big game hunters. The five largest and most dangerous game species on the African continent are engraved on the rifle: lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant. The title "Tracks of Africa's" derives from their footprints or tracks which represent the best part of the magazine. Here, African elephant and buffalo are depicted on the African savannah and surrounded by fine scroll engravings. Receiver heads are embellished with the engraved heads of lion and leopard. Their trails attract both hunters on the M 03's chamber surfaces. The rifle's overall noble impression is complemented by grade 8 wood stock and its engraved decorations on the barrel base, the open sights and the sling.
The rhino engraved on the pistol grip rounds off the wealth of Africa's big game. However, the trail does not get lost here – engraver Roland Schmidt also leaves the tracks of the rhinoceros on the trigger guard, lending the M 03 "Tracks of Africa" its unique character.
