M 03 "Arctic"
Mauser’s M 03 Arctic is breathtaking to behold. The mammoth ivory embodies the bitter cold of the polar region while simultaneously firing the enthusiasm of every true huntsman. Fine scrimshaw engravings resemble ancient Inuit artwork. The ivory tableaus are framed in intricately engraved steel settings. The combination of steel and ivory with a dark grade-nine curl wood stock creates a striking composition.
The main engravings are featured at the stock cap and are framed by etched walrus skin. A mighty walrus sporting long tusks is featured; the sculptural modeling breathes life into the animal. The beast’s long tusks protect the 60 cm length of the .375 H & H calibre barrel, which is decorated with fine silver inlays. No less impressive is the magazine base plate depicting a female polar bear and her two cubs, as well as the pistol grip cap showing a wolf that lies in wait for prey.
Completing the masterful appearance of the rifle is a bolt handle ball crafted from mammoth ivory. Its structure is similar to the wrinkled, rough skin of the walrus. Similar engravings are also found on both the rear and front sights.
